Specific to UK Visitors

The most obvious difference when driving in the USA is that they drive on the right hand side of the road and the driver's side of the car is on the left.

The majority of vehicles in Florida are automatic. Always have the parking brake 'on' when you put the vehicle into 'drive'. Only use the right foot for operating the accelerator (gas) and foot brake pedal.

It is not illegal in the USA to undertake on a freeway so be wary of cars passing on both sides. Freeway lanes can change from three to four to give lanes at various points.

"The free right at a red light"  rule - you may turn right against the traffic lights in Florida but only if the coats is clear. There may be some instances where you are not allowed to turn right at a red light but these are clearly marked by signs.

Enjoy your driving experience and don't panic.
